You don't say! Never mind. Likewise! I'm in! Sort of. Close call…
Even advanced learners freeze when it's time to react naturally in everyday situations.
Our new material covers around 100 of these reactions across 6 themed blocks, with 250+ video examples from films — from must-know B1 phrases (go ahead, get well soon, it depends, good luck) to advanced ones (on the house, close call, that tracks, just my luck). They're all collected in the Unlimited Phrasebook, with easy navigation.
You can't really teach this straight from a coursebook, so here's how the learning flow works:
Students listen to clips from popular films and try to catch the phrase.
They type it into the answer field (a bit of spelling practice never hurts).
They hit "Check" — and a card opens up with an explanation, usage examples, dialogues, synonyms with extra videos, and notes on nuance.
At the end of each card there are discussion prompts, so the phrase sticks during the lesson itself. For example: Say "Well done" twice — once as a sincere compliment and once sarcastically (as if someone just made a mess). What's a small everyday disaster that makes you think "Just my luck…"?
Each block ends with exercises (including our new formats — Word Grid, Spin & React, Sincere or Sarcastic, Light Up the Constellation), many of which test register (formal/informal) and pragmatic nuance (sarcasm, irony).
For homework, we've added a Share feature so students can review everything on their phones — just send them a link that stays live for two weeks, and you're done.
Average time to work through all 6 blocks at our school: 5 hours.
How to get access:
We've deliberately stepped away from the subscription model — we respect teachers' professionalism and want to build a library that fits your specific needs. So it's a one-time payment, and the material goes straight into your library (log in on the site, click the person icon at the top; we'll also send you a link by email).
